Rachel Bethel represents employees before federal and state courts, as well as in administrative proceedings before the EEOC, TWC, and OSHA. She has experience in a wide range of civil rights and employment issues, and she truly enjoys working on them all. Prior to joining Rob Wiley, P.C., Ms. Bethel practiced at a Washington, DC civil rights law firm and at an American Lawyer 50 international law firm.

The best part of being a lawyer for Ms. Bethel is connecting with her clients and supporting them on their legal journey. She hopes that each client knows and feels that someone cares about them, their story, and the wrongs that they have endured in the workplace. For Ms. Bethel, fighting on behalf of everyday people while going up against corporate giants or governmental agencies is deeply rewarding.

Ms. Bethel graduated from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC. During her time in law school, Ms. Bethel developed a strong background in civil rights and employment law. She clerked for a Washington EEOC Administrative Judge, served employees as a student attorney with GW’s Public Justice Advocacy Clinic, and clerked for three plaintiffs’ firms, one of which was another DC civil rights firm. She also had the opportunity to intern for the Office of the General Counsel at the Department of Health & Human Services.

While at GW, Ms. Bethel was also a member of GW’s Federal Circuit Bar Journal, as well as a member of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association and the South Asian Law Students Association. Finally, she was a Workers’ Rights Clinic volunteer for the Washington Lawyers’ Committee.

Prior to law school, Ms. Bethel obtained her bachelor’s in international relations from American University in Washington, DC. She spent a year of college abroad in India on a Boren Scholarship from the National Security Education Program. She had the opportunity to conduct field research on sex trafficking with an HIV/AIDS prevention NGO. She also took master’s level courses with Manipal University’s geopolitics department.

Ms. Bethel originally hails from Garland, Texas. She graduated with an International Baccalaureate diploma from Garland High School and is a very proud Garland Owl.

Ms. Bethel is licensed to practice in Texas and Washington, DC. She is also admitted to practice in the federal district courts in the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas and in Washington, DC.
